The latest Lipstick Queen fall 2013 collection is titled “Velvet Rope” and features five amazing lipsticks. The new lipsticks have the most advanced formula yet. Australian entrepreneur and founder of the lipstick brand, Poppy King, took inspiration from the glamorous forties: “Hollywood glamour was at its peak in the Forties,” King told WWD:“It was a time when women were an equal presence on screen, and were there to be seen as well as heard. Each one of the female film stars in the Forties could match any man in terms of power and wit and look damn good doing it.”
The Velvet Rope lipstick line is aimed to be a very high quality one and is the result of an intense desire that goes way back for the founder: “I have been trying to make this [quality] lipstick since I started my first lipstick brand when I was 18. I finally found a chemist who cracked the code on ‘high-drama look, no-drama wear.’ This was the lipstick of my childhood dreams.” What exactly makes the new Lipstick Queen line so special? One of the ingredients, silicone elastomer, which makes the new lipsticks feel silky yet weightless and helping women get an intense color with a single stroke.
Additional ingredients of the new Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope line are vitamin E and apricot oil, which help keep the lips soft and well nourished, three types of waxes — candelilla, carnauba and beeswax. To make the lips plumper, the label also included peppermint oil in the formula. The new lipsticks are intended to be classy yet edgy: “Velvet Rope is about beauty and power and where the two meet on an equal footing”, the founder stated.
The names of the five Velvet Rope lipsticks, Private Party, Brat Pack, Entourage, Black Tie and Star System reflect that allure. The new lipsticks come in gorgeous shades that range from nude to intense red and will be available for purchase starting with September on lipstickqueen.com,Space NK and Barneys New York. The only downside? The quality of the lipsticks commands a fairly steep price. Each of the new lipsticks will retail for $50.
