Banana Republic and L'Wren Scott teamed up for a limited edition capsule collection. The news was officially confirmed by both retailers. Though Banana Republic is known for its amazing collaborations, the partnership was definitely unexpected given the differences in approach between the two brands. That was definitely a challenge for the two labels, according to Simon Kneen, creative director and executive vice president of design of Banana Republic who told WWD.com: “She’s much more couture than we’d ever be. How could we make her more approachable and understandable for our customer? She wanted some of the sportswear sensibility that we bring.”
Scott stated that the fact that she regularly shopped at Banana Republic while growing up was an important factor in her decision: “Banana Republic is somewhere I used to shop and something I grew up with. From a quality point of view and their price point, it was really impressive. They have this massive team that helps you achieve what you want to do. It’s this big machine. In a team that size, you have somebody for every component for the making of a garment. The sheer speed that they can achieve is mesmerizing.”
Of course, given the designer's love for sophisticated designs, like the ones from the L'Wren Scott fall 2013 collection, elegance will definitely dominate the upcoming Banana Republic x L'Wren Scott capsule collection set to be launched this holiday.
The upcoming L'Wren Scott for Banana Republic holiday capsule collection will make its debut on the 5th of December and will feature no less than 50 amazing items, perfect for the holiday season. Though only a classy sketch was released, the designer made plenty of interesting statements meant to ignite fashionistas' curiosity and enthusiasm: “The blouses are gorgeous. I did some really great L jeans, my signature jean, in fun colors and a nice brocade. I also did a drawing, a peony print from my garden, and put it on jeans.”
Believe it or not, that's not even the most exciting part: the designer also focused on the 'gift' concept which is also reflected in the new collection:“I’m obsessed with gifting. There’s a lot of fun things in the collection, like a little clutch bag with a jeweled rock ’n’ roll gunmetal chain that comes off and can be worn as a necklace.”
The clothes from the new Banana Republic x L'Wren Scott holiday 2013 collection will come both in tall and petite sizes and will retail for prices between $39.50 to $165. On the other hand, the glamorous accessories included in the new line have a price range between $39.50 to $198.
