The Armani Prive fall 2013 couture collection certainly went in a different direction than most fashionistas would have anticipated. This time, the modern, futuristic approach we saw in the spring 2013 couture collection was replaced by a glamorous return to the thirties. Impeccably tailored suits were traded with sophisticated feminine looks that can be easily worn outside the catwalks. Like Raf Simons, who tried to bring wearable alternatives in the latest Dior couture line, Giorgio Armani also tried to make its newest line appealing to more than a very select group of women.
Titled simply “Nude”, the new Armani Prive couture fall 2013 collection takes inspiration from the glamorous thirties. Why the thirties? Because, according to the designer “perhaps that was the most beautiful time for portraying women. That’s what I wanted; just to make women feel beautiful.” The multitude of soft, feminine and ultra glamorous options unraveled definitely highlighted the concept beautifully. No less than 52 dainty looks were presented, each with its own unique perspective. Soft tones and lightweight fabrics dominated the new Armani Prive couture collection for fall 2013 and underlined the line's focus on timeless chicness all while glamor & vintage sophistication were made visible through well chosen textures and interesting proportions.
Though the preference for monochromatic pieces was clearly expressed in the latest Armani Prive couture 2013 collection, the designer didn't abandon prints and patterns all together. Snakeskin prints, exotic skins and geometric patterns still made their way into the new line. Gorgeous modern jackets added a modern vibe to the feminine skirts and dresses in the new line. To bring complexity to the new looks, the designer used shimmery embroidery liberally, relying on complex yet not ultra conspicuous patterns for a stunning effect.
Perhaps the most impressive looks from the Armani Prive fall 2013 couture collection were the evening dresses, that had a distinguishable Old Hollywood glamor. The ultra pretty floor-sweeping gowns had deceivingly simple shapes, subdued chromatic accents, luxurious crystal embellishments that instantly impressed and which will undoubtedly be spotted on the red carpet in the not so distant future.
