For some designers the New York Fashion Week spring 2014 edition was the perfect occasion to explore their optimistic side and bring a myriad of vibrant, electric pieces into the spotlight. The desire to bring upbeat accents and explore interesting cultural influences was reflected through refreshing stylistic perspectives that uncovered a rather unexpected but fabulous side of the labels' aesthetic core. If these spring 2014 collections are any indication, we're in for an exciting and complex style treat for the warm months of 2014:
NYFW Spring 2014 Collection: Rebecca Minkoff
For the spring /summer 2014 season, the designer chose to leave punk influences aside in favor of something a little different. This time, she found inspiration in Mexico and strong Latin American women like Frida Kahlo and Bianca Jagger. The line revolved around modern feminine pieces with a sporty twist. Elaborate floral embroidery, mesh jackets, chic artisanal details, cool knee-high sandals and cutout boots were among the most memorable elements of the star's show. Perhaps the outfit that best reflected the theme was the whimsical T-shirt with the message “Let's go to Mexico” paired with an elegant bright yellow dress and a sporty jacket.
