New Karl Lagerfeld fragrances for both men and women will be hitting the market this month. The eccentric designer made the announcement a while back, however, he was very discreet when it came to details. However, now that the launch date approaches, more details are finally becoming available. It appears that the new fragrances were created in collaboration with Inter Parfums SA and that the designer wanted the new scents to have a modern vibe.
“When lavender is too basic, I don’t like it. Especially in the modern world, there has to be a kind of sophistication and not too much of a down-to-earth garden, flowery hothouse mood. That’s from the past. There has to be a sophisticated twist in the perfume; if not, the old ones are better. The important thing with a perfume is to be new when it comes out and [then] turn into a classic in your bathroom,” he told WWD.com.
The 2014 Karl Lagerfeld women’s fragrance was created by Mane perfumers Serge Majoullier and Christine Nagel and includes notes of lemon, peach, rose, magnolia, plumeria, musks and woods. The Karl Lagerfeld men's fragrance, on the other hand, was created by International Flavors & Fragrances’ Jean-Christophe Hérault and includes notes of lavender, mandarin zest, apple, violet leaves, sandalwood and amber.
